District Development Councils across Jammu region
6 will go to BJP, 3 to NC and 1 to Independents or Congress
In Jammu region
1. Samba District:
BJP led DDC since BJP emerged clear victor with 13 DDC seats. NC won Bari Brahmana-B
2. Kathua District:
BJP led DDC since BJP emerged clear victor with 13 DDC seats. BSP won 1 seat from Kathua DDC.
3. Jammu District:
BJP-led DDC since BJP emerged clear victor with 12 DDC seats. 1 seat went to JKNC and another was won by independent from Marh
4. Udhampur District:
BJP-led DDC since BJP emerged clear victor with 11 DDC seats. 2 seat went to JKNPP and another was won by independent.
5. Doda District:
BJP-led DDC since BJP emerged clear victor with 8 DDC seats. 4 seats went to Congress while NC could win just 1 seat in what once used to be NC bastion. BJP’s Shakti Raj Parihar lost from both Marmat and Gundana DDC constituencies.
6. Reasi District
BJP has won 7 seats followed by NC 3, Apni Party 2, Congress 1 and Independent 1. BJP needs one seat for winning the Chairman’s position in the DDC. If Independent Sajira Qadir switches over to BJP, DDC goes to BJP. And if that does not happen and Jammu Kashmir Apni Party extends support to BJP, DDC goes to BJP. And one more possibility is lone Congress winner switching over and joining BJP. This is scenario 1.
On the other hand, if NC, JKAP, Congress and Independent come together, a toss is the only way to decide who would be the Chairman of DDC. In all likelihood, probability of taking over the DDC is highest for BJP
7. Ramban District
Jammu Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) has won 6 seats followed by 3 seats for independents, 3 for BJP and 2 for Congress. In all likelihood, JKNC will ally with Congress and take control of Ramban DDC.
8. Kishtwar District
Jammu Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) has won 6 seats followed by 2 seats for independents, 3 for BJP and 3 for Congress. In all likelihood, JKNC will ally with Congress and take control of Kishtwar DDC.
9. Rajouri District
Jammu Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) has either won or is leading in 5 seats followed by 3 seats for Congress, 3 for BJP, 1 for Jammu Kashmir Apni Party, 1 for JKPDP and 1 for Independent. In all likelihood, JKNC will ally with Congress and take control of Rajouri DDC.
10 Poonch District
Independents have swept polls in Poonch with 8 victories followed by 4 to Congress and 2 to Jammu Kashmir National Conference (JKNC). No one can say for sure which way the wind will blow but, in all likelihood, Congress and Jammu Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) will make all attempts to bring rebels back who fought against the party candidates and won. If that happens, even this DDC will see PAGD Chairman. BJP has an outside chance if it manages to win all the 8 independents.
